Jakarta - Based on Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism, BNPT has an important task to protect all Indonesian citizens. Therefore, BNPT held a Meeting Regarding the Systematics of the Draft Regulation of the National Counterterrorism Agency concerning the Implementation of the Deradicalization Program for Former Terrorist Convicts and Persons or Groups of Persons Who Have Been Exposed to Radical Terrorism Ideology on Thursday (20/5/21).
This meeting aims to prepare a framework for the initial draft of the National Counterterrorism Agency Regulation, discuss the concept of the deradicalization program that will be outlined in the agency's regulations and find a point of understanding regarding the purpose of establishing this Agency Regulation.
The points that are of concern in the preparation of this initial draft are the identification and assessment process as well as the objects that will be regulated in the agency's regulations and how the stages of social reintegration and objects of deradicalization for convicts who are on parole.
As a closing of this meeting, it was agreed to reschedule the Meeting on the Stages of Drafting the Agency Regulation on the Implementation of the Deradicalization Program for Former Terrorist Convicts and People or Groups of People Who Have Been Exposed to Radical Terrorism Ideology by inviting internal BNPT members who were involved in the drafting of this Regulation.
